Gina Martin, MS, LAc, Dipl Ac, LMT, earned her Masters of Science in Acupuncture from Swedish Institute College of Allied Health Science, She has been a student for over 20 years of Jeffery Yuen, Daoist Master of the Jade Purity School, 88th Generation, and has been a Shiatsu Sensei in Five Element Style Shiatsu since 1992. She graduated, Summa Cum Laude, from Indiana University, earning her BA in Political Science. She completed her massage therapy education at the Swedish Institute, and was the valedictorian of her graduating class at The National Academy of Arts in Champaign, Illinois.
Gina was a professional dancer, appearing on Broadway and in films and regional theater. She brings a life long study of the body and a love for its wisdom to her work as a Classical Chinese medical practitioner. She was a teacher of anatomy and physiology at the Swedish Institute, as well as being a chair of the Eastern Studies Department and the author of the Shiatsu Workbook. She sat on the New York State Massage Therapy Board for 20 years, designing the New York licensing exam. She has served as a consultant to the National Federation of Massage Therapy Boards and the Maryland Department of Education.She currently teaches anatomy and physiology for several Yoga Teacher Training programs, and workshops for CEU's in massage therapy and acupuncture.
Gina is nationally board certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and licensed in acupuncture and massage therapy by the state of New York. She has done extensive work as a Doula, and as an end-of-life health care practitioner.
